  • These buns may be more suited to Ketovore or Keto rather than Carnivore due to the Whey Protein powder.
  • You can substitute the Whey protein power for a Whey Protein Isolate or a Beef Protein powder.
  • You could use frozen grated butter if you like, in place of the frozen grated cheese.

Easy Protein powder Cheese Buns for Keto or Low Carb! No Egg White Powder or Almond Flour. These make great hamburger buns as well!

Ingredients

  • 5 eggs, separated
  • 3 Tbsp. unflavored Whey Protein Powder
  • 2 oz. frozen cheese
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Italian Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder

Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 350°.
    2. Using a stand mixer, whip the egg whites for about 3 minutes. You want to see stiff peaks.
    3. While the whites are mixing, use a hand mixer to beat the yolks in a large glass measuring cup. Beat until mixed, approximately 1 minute.
    4. Add the baking powder and the Whey Protein Powder to your yolks and mix until well incorporated.
    5. Once the whites are stiff, remove about 1 cup and add it to the yolk mixture to introduce them. Blend about 30 seconds or so, just to give it a good mix.
    6. With your standing mixer set to low, add your yolk mixture a little at a time to gently blend. Scrape the sides and mix a few seconds more.
    7. Add your frozen grated cheese while the mixer is running on low still. You just want to blend is evenly with the mixture.
    8. Once it's all done, give it a little mix with your spatula, being sure to scrape the sides.
    9. I am using a silicone muffin top pan on a baking sheet. You don't need to use a pan, you could simply place on parchment paper in your pan as well. You just want to be try to divide your mixture into 6 portions as equally as possible.
    10. Smooth over your buns and sprinkle with a little Italian seasoning and parmesan. (optional)
    11. Bake for 15 minutes.
    12. Let them cook and then gently remove from your pan. Enjoy!
