I don’t know if there is actually such a thing as a Ketogenic headache, but if there is, I had it today.  I woke up with it and it got worse as the day wore on.

I have had sugar detox headaches before but this was the worst ever.  Am I detoxing from the carbs in veggies?  My dinner included a zuchinni cheese casserole and I felt quite a bit better after that.

So even with the zuchinni cheese dish, I managed to achieve 79/14/7 which is my best ratio to date as I try to achieve nutritional ketosis.

Here is my ketogenic diet food breakdown for the today:

  1. 1 egg with mayo
  2. ¼ c half&half
  3. Macadamia nuts
  4. 2 oz burger with mayo
  5. Pork rinds with guacamole
  6. Zuchinni casserole
  7. 1/3 c whipped cream jello dessert

This worked out to 1369 calories, 26 g carbs, 121 g fat, 50 g protein, and 15 g fibre.  As far as the ratios go, I am aiming for the nutritional ketosis magic of 80% fat, so 79% wasn’t bad.  But I am really falling down with getting the protein count up.  If there is a magic formula for what to eat to get these ratios, I don’t know what it is yet!

I am really hoping this headache is gone tomorrow!

    Glad to find this post, I started a ketogenic diet a week ago and now I am having a headache so trying to find some insight. But glad to have a reminder to still create a deficit to achieve weight loss. Thanks for the breakdown of what you ate that day.

      Yes, those first few days of Keto are hard right!? Make sure you are drinking water and bone broth and use lots of pink salt. You’ll feel better.
