Day 4 – Hello Keto Flu!

Keto Flu?

Ok, today is about my 4th day of working seriously to achieve the idea ratio for nutritional ketosis.  I hope this is not too much TMI, but what the heck, this is a new blog and I’ll be lucky to get a couple visitors.  So today I have major gastric issues and I ended up going home from work after half a day.  Frankly, I didn’t want to smell up the bathroom there!

I read somewhere in some forum post about keto flu and now I’m going to have to see if I can find that again.

On the bright side, I made it over that 80% fat mark, in fact today I made 82% fat!  And that was with eating veggies at 2 meals! My Fitness Pal score was 82/15/3.  Woohoo! I think I am getting the hang of this thing!

I never thought I’d celebrate eating 82% fat after all those years of low fat dieting.  I’m sure all those Pritikin people and Dukan Diet  people would be cringing at this.

Here is my food breakdown for today:

  1. 3 coffees with whipping cream
  2. boiled egg, with  mayo
  3. 1 oz macadamias
  4. 1 large celery stalk with 1 oz cream cheese
  5. steak with blue cheese crumbles and mayo
  6. Zuchinni casserole
  7. 2 oz jello cream cheese balls

Calories 1509, carbs 15, fat 133, protein 54

So hopefully tomorrow I will feel better and have this keto flu nonsense behind me!

And I also follow your blog as I started hard core keto yesterday morning. Working on increasing my fat intake and seeing your in has given me ideas!

I think my portion size is still too big, because I have not experienced anything, other than the occasional headache, a bit of a whingey hip and my stomach feels like I’ve done 100 sit-ups (a slow burn inside, but not heartburn). I’m also conflicted with the too much protein, but eating cheese (which is protein and which is also fat). I need to eat 141 grams of fat – so… I can’t just eat butter. Suggestions? BTW, so very glad I came across this site. Hope you’re still up and running, since I see the dates say 2013/2014.

oh yes, still up and running, just super busy at work. Be sure to use some of that lo salt, that will help with those keto flu symptoms.

Awesome! I’m in keto flu. That’s why I’m here! Doing a search for info. My symptoms are nausea, dizziness and headache. Right more I’m sipping on left over homemade salty, fatty chicken broth. I like your menu! Celery with cream cheese is one of my favorite snacks.
